LUBE Designer Attends IFDA Meeting at Beverly Hall Showroom

Atlanta welcomed members of the International Furnishings and Design Association (IFDA) for the September Chapter Meeting at the Beverly Hall Showroom. Bryan Marquardt, the lead kitchen designer at LUBE of Atlanta, attended the meeting. Marquardt and other members enjoyed food, wine and networking before hearing guest speakers, Sharron Zimmerman and Howard Shaddock.

Sharron Zimmerman, long time IFDA member, board member and showroom manager of Beverly Hall, introduced the members to the design program at Beverly Hall. The design program allows for commissions to be paid to designers who bring their clients to Beverly Hall whether the purchase is made through the designer or directly by the client. Beverly Hall also covers freight in from the manufacturer, runs its own receiving warehouse and white glove delivery service and provides a lifetime warranty on products purchased.

Following chapter announcements, Howard Shaddock, the furniture historian at Maitland Smith, gave a fascinating history of how furniture was designed as a collaborative process between customer and artisan, and how those practices and designs are seen today. Shaddock used several furniture and accessory examples to illustrate his points.

6th Annual Party for the Kitchen Benefits Open Hand

Celebrity chefs will pair with community leaders to create their favorite delicacies in designer kitchens at Open Hand's 6th annual Party for the Kitchen at Cucine LUBE Kitchen and Bath Design Center,34 Irby Ave., in Buckhead on Thursday, Oct.23,2008.

A VIP reception will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. followed by the main event from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Catered by A Legendary Event, the main event will include a silent auction, a dinner buffet, and live entertainment.

The 2008 event is being co-chaired by Tony Conway,Sally Dorsey and Todd Tautfest. Guest Chefs include Leigh Catherall, Holly Firfer, Liz Lapidus, Mary Norwood, and Bert Weiss.

Party proceeds benefit Atlanta-based non-profit Open Hand, which provides healthy home-delivered meals to seniors and individuals struggling with a chronic, critical or terminal illness in 16 metro Atlanta counties. Through its innovative Comprehensive Nutrition Care program, Open Hand combines healthy meals with nutrition education,counseling, and therapy. Open Hand is celebrating the culmination of its 2oth anniversary in 2008. Cucine LUBE is the platinum sponsor for the party.

Cucine LUBE of Atlanta Hosts Young Bucks

Cucine Lube of Atlanta hosted a Business Networking Event event in cooperation with the BBA's Young Bucks, the premiere young professionals organization of the Buckhead community, on Wednesday, September 23, 2008. Attendees enjoyed a festive wine tasting and listened to a special guest speaker, Career Coach Hallie Crawford.

Young Bucks' mission is to assemble young professionals to foster leadership development, personal enrichment, networking and community involvement. Created by the Buckhead Business Association during the mid 1990's, the members of Young Bucks also seek to strengthen the community by getting involved in community service activities. The organization is open to all young professionals who live, work, play or have interests in Buckhead.

LUBE Gives a Helping Hand at Project Open Hand

Employees, friends and family of Cucine LUBE of Atlanta recently invested in their community by volunteering their time to aid Open Hand - Atlanta's only community-based nonprofit organization addressing Comprehensive Nutrition Care.

Open Hand provides healthy, home-delivered meals combined with nutrition education, counseling and therapy for home bound seniors and individuals struggling with a chronic, critical or terminal illness. The organization helps people prevent or better manage chronic disease and reinforces the connection between knowledgeable food choices and improved quality of life.

As volunteers, Cucine LUBE employees, friends and family members prepared and packaged over 1,600 meals and delivered them to Open Hand's meal recipients. LUBE found the experience to be equally humbling and rewarding. The LUBE team looks forward to working with Open Hand in the future, serving as a proud sponsor of their upcoming 'Party in the Kitchen' fundraiser, scheduled for October 23, 2008.
